Throughout my participation in the OCCares Social Enterprise Spectrum, I gained incredible insight into the power social enterprise has to make sustainable and impactful change. I loved the experience of sharing my story as a guest speaker and being inspired by the wonderful speakers these workshops united! My involvement in these events empowered me to continue looking for ways to give back to the community. Now, as I recently started university, I am continuously grateful for the organization, time management, and leadership skills that I gained through OCCares. In adjusting to life abroad, the community-oriented mindset OCCares taught me has proven immensely valuable, as I feel comfortable and confident getting involved with community efforts no matter where I go!

I joined OCCares as a freshman. Over the years it has helped me to learn more about my community and the people who are making a difference. It is inspiring to have role models to look up to. OC Cares allowed me to gain service hours while learning how to be of service. It’s something I will carry with me to college.
— Alizeh Rushenas, Chaminade Preparatory High School, Westhills, Ca.

Because of OCCARES I was able to volunteer and it gave me an opportunity to help my community. It was a great experience for me to put a smile on kids faces and help create a positive outlook on life for the children.
